Rambling

Rambling Section

The Club has an active rambling section which organises walks throughout the year both locally and further-afield.

Information about up-coming walks is announced in newsletters and the Club members' Facebook page. If you would like to participate in any of these events you are more than welcome. The timeline below gives an idea of the sort of events scheduled.

2021 - Lighthouse walk and mulled wine and Christmas treats served indoors and the Christmas ballot drawn. This raised £500 towards Safety Boat fund.

2020 - Lighthouse walk and Mulled wine and Christmas treats served outdoors on the walkers return.

2019

Last walk - Carlingford November 2019.

Glenties - 1 March 2019

A great ramble was held in challenging conditions at An Port. Participants enjoyed the weekend at the Highlands Hotel in Glenties, with a package deal of 115.00pp sharing for 2 nights B&B & 1 evening meal.

2013

Five walks completed around Blackhead Lighthouse.

Saturday 16 February -Completed (22 participants)

Coast Road near Garron Point to the deserted Galboly village to Lough Galboly. The traverse of the Plateau continues passing Knockore, Turnly's Seat, Loughfine and Loughnatrosk on the way eventually to Carnlough!

2012 Completed 5 Around Lighthouse

1st completed on Sunday 29 January 2012 (Very wet and windy conditions, total of 11 stalwart walkers turned out)

2nd Completed on Easter Monday following participation in the walk around Whitehead ( Fun Run)

3rd Completed on Saturday 11 August Members supported the "Friends of Whitehead" by walking the route. Numbers being counted and petition signed in support of remedial work and ongoing maintenance of the path.

4th Completed in October following participation in the walk of small group of Members

5th Completed on Sunday 23 December 18-20 participants returned to Club for Mulled Wine & Mince Pies/Shortbread
