Irish Sailing Youth Nationals 2025. Luke Simpson attended Dun Laoghaire, 4 days of racing for the ILCA 6's, plus many other fleets, including Oppies, Toppers, 29ers, 420's.

Narrows Series - Gavin, Rory, Calum and Aoife all in action at the event with some great results too.

Summer and Autumn

Shout out to Rory and Calum who were also racing up at CSC in Bloodhound. Owner Walter Ewing a member of CSC and CAYC. Some excellent results capturing some 1st placings with the boys often on the helm.

2nd overall early Thursdays, Late Tuesdays & Thursdays & in Autumn - continually biting at the heels of Hot Orange.

Rory McKenna 1st in YTC restricted Fleet, Early & Late Thursdays, won Autumn Series at CSC too

2025 Season

Junior World BRONZE - 49erFX Junior World Championships in Copenhagen - congratulations to Ellen Barbour and Erin McIlwaine

Couple of fabulous 3rds also at the Worlds in Italy. Currently at Junior Europeans in Sicily

Ellen Barbour Bursary passed on to support Ellen with her and Erin's campaign

September

Flying Fifteen Nationals at Dun Laoghaire Bryan and John competing. Challenging conditions as every weekend. Lots of breeze.

October

Lough Derg - Bryan Willis & John McPeake 2nd overall. The word spicy has been used throughout this season .

Holly McConnell Senior Instructor:

This year, volunteering to deliver the evening OnBoard

sessions and developing young sailors and training new AIs

at the Club during Summer Sailing Course.

Holly is kind and caring and respectful of the Club and all

within this sphere. She takes her responsibilities seriously

as a Senior Instructor and is thorough in assessment of students

and other Instructors. Not only here, but I know she is also

trusted in other clubs to deliver sail training. This is of huge

importance to us as a Club that offers training.

Holly and her family can be very proud of her achievements.

Fun Day

Fantastic day had by all thanks to organisers

RTC summary of courses and development in RTC resources.

The season kicked off with an Instructor day to review plans and availability followed by a Parents and sailors session. We delivered a RYA programme called OnBoard encompassing sail training in the early season with Emily Hill and Holly McConnell leading the sessions for approx. 6 x Wednesday afternoons and 6x Friday evenings. This was introduced at a session at Whitehead Primary School to Y5 upwards.

2 x RYA Youth Sailing Schemes in the summer: 24

2 x RYA National Sailing Schemes L1 & L2 : 6

OnBoard and Discover Sailing did introduce some new members and juniors for summer courses.

Although we did have only 2 weeks of YSS courses, these were well supported and a solid step forward with children continuing to sail later in the season.

We are delighted that we had 6 Adults signed up for L1 RYA National Sailing and 2 adults completed L2 with Richard Robinson supported by Luke Simpson, Ellen Barbour and Calum Pollard.
