Five walks are required again this year (2013) around Blackhead Lighthouse.

2013 Saturday 16 February -Completed (22 participants)
Coast Road near Garron Point to the deserted Galboly village to Lough Galboly.  The traverse of the Plateau continues passing Knockore, Turnly’s Seat, Loughfine and Loughnatrosk on the way eventually to Carnlough!

 

 

2012 – Completed 5 Around Lighthouse

1st completed on Sunday 29 January 2012- (Very wet and windy conditions, total of 11 stalwart walkers turned out)

2nd Completed on Easter Monday following participation in the walk around Whitehead ( Fun Run)

3rd Completed on Saturday 11 August – Members supported the “Friends of Whitehead” by walking the route. Numbers being counted and petition signed in support of remedial work and ongoing maintenance of the path.

4th Completed in October following participation in the walk of small group of Members

5th Completed on Sunday 23 December - 18-20 participants returned to Club for Mulled Wine & Mince Pies/Shortbread

In case of an emergency all Members and Visitors taking part in Rambles organised by the Rambling section must complete this form :Contact /Medical Consent Form. This will be held in confidence by the Leader of the walk.

Regular Walks :

5 planned walks per year to the Blackhead Lighthouse and returning to the Clubhouse. Approx duration, 1.5 hours. (Steps are involved in ascending the cliff path to the Lighthouse) Dates published on Website and members notified by email & text on a regular basis.

Saturday 9th June  2012 : ( 7 Participants )- 8 others joined.  Venue  -Craigfad loughs above Carnlough : Distance 5 Miles
Saturday 21st April  2012 : ( 9 Participants )  Venue Mourne Mountains, Spelagh Dam : Distance 4 Miles
Saturday 10th March 2012 : (22 participants ) Venue Glenariff forest park : Distance 5.9 Miles :Start/Finish point Larragh LodgeTerrain is mostly forest path, steep in places ,Features include scenic river walk and hopefully views of Mull of Kintyre
