Sponsored by Balmoral Estates 2015
County Antrim Yacht Club hosted the Balmoral Estates Junior Regatta.
Once again this year, the event was sponsored by the local estate agent business in Whitehead: Balmoral Estates. Their continued support of junior sailing and development has ensured a further increase in the number of participants again this year. Even with exams well under way and some of the older youth sailors studying for these, there were still over 25 junior sailors competing in the Regatta.
The Club had a mix of Laser, Topper, Optimist, 420 and Pico dinghies taking part in the 3 races. Intense competition took place not only at the top end of the fleets, but throughout. This was a clear indication that the 9 weekends of race training provided to the juniors on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings by volunteer coaches within the Club had paid dividends. The largest fleet was the Topper full rig – 11 Dinghies.
A prizegiving was held after racing where every child who took part was awarded a prize endorsing their participation. Thanks was given to all the volunteers, parents and, in particular, the Sponsor for enabling this event to take place.

County Antrim Yacht Club held the Junior Regatta on Saturday 29 June 2013. A total of 9 competitors took part in 3 races compared to 24 last year. This was due to an unfortunate clash of other events and holidays
The Club is a RYA Training Centre and a RYA Champion Club. The Junior Regatta followed on from recent race training that many of the juniors took part in over 8 Saturday mornings in the spring and 8 Friday evenings for Optimist sailors.
Three of the Club juniors are in the RYANI Junior Squad Emily Hill, Ellen McCarlie and Andrew Mitchell and Jocelyn Hill is in the Youth Squad. This aims to develop young sailors and facilitate those who wish to go into the GBR or IRL National Junior/Youth Squad Programmes.
Sponsored by Balmoral Estates, Stephen McAloney presented the prizes to all the junior and youth sailors who took part.
